After a very odd week with ups and downs with the guys and the girls, we come full circle with one of the most intense results nights in quite some time--perhaps ever.
The four that ended up being voted off are Jared Cotter, Antonella Barba, Sabrina Sloan, and Sundance Head. This is a bittersweet moment for me as a watcher, as many of you that have followed my posts know my feelings about Antonella. How ever, the other three that were sent home tonight were utter travesties. Perhaps the one that may have deserved to go home the most was Sundance, as he has been weak the majority of the competition--but again, when faced against the likes of Phil Stacey and Sanjaya Malakar, there is no doubt that he should be the one going into next week.
Jared and Sabrina's exit simply floors me. Both of them have been solid, memorable overall, and good, talented performers. This once again proves how ridiculous this has gotten in terms of the voting, whereby it's obvious that the popularity and looks portion of it is more important than what you are actually there to do--sing.
I realize I have ranted on about this, but this top 12, out of all of the talent that could have been there--is a joke. It actually cheapens those that did what they needed to and DESERVE to be there and have the title. Now, for all of those people that want to see the American Idol finalists on tour, they will have to endure the off-notes of some of these wanna-be's--and it's no one's fault but OUR OWN.
