American Idol Review-Week 3 "The Girls"
After a less-than-inspiring night from the gents, we again turn our attention to the talent-filled ladies' cast, where this is the last week prior to the final 12 where everyone is joined and we see the contestants go off 1 by 1.

But until then, let's see how this night pans out....

Jordin Sparks-After we get to see her tomboy side with her love for football, she starts off the night right by coming out with a rockin' Pat Benetar song called "Heartbreaker". While many would think this would be a stretch for such a young girl with soulful pipes, she does an ample job of the song overall. While a bit pitchy in parts, she really rocks it overall. Great start to the show!

Score: 2.5 stars

Sabrina Sloan-An interesting piece on her former "television" career, her song starts off rocky with a few flat notes and some "screaming" it seems. For the level of performance expectation she's set, I believe this was her weakest performance yet. Not very memorable, and the song was all over the place.

Score: 1.5 stars

Antonella Barba-She does play a mean fiddle, that's for sure. Not sure what song this was, but it was so sugary and reminded me of something I would hear on The Mickey Mouse Club. I have already said that she should have been gone a long time ago, and even though this was a decent performance, I just can't see her being in the top 12. It just doesn't make sense. Simon tells it like it is--she has gone as far as she SHOULD go...hint hint America....her panicked responses to Ryan sound like she knows that she shouldn't be there but can't come to terms with it.

Score: 2 stars

Haley Scarnato-A very cutesy bit about her love for gymnastics leads us into a kind of jumbled song where the song and the words seem to be rushed for the first portion of it. While it starts to open up range-wise midway through, it reminded me more of a Broadway performance than what should be an "Idol" type of show. Not unique at all, in my opinion. Again, Simon hits the nail on the head--he knows the pulse of the public and the expectations that should be in place.

Score: 2 stars

Stephanie Edwards-she is so bubbly! Every week we get a new facet of her performance. A perfect song choice for her range and for her style--she is one of the top 4 right now, in my opinion. A sure shot for the top 12 and a true challenger at this point for the crown. That's right, you heard it here first...! Impressive, to say the least. I was surprised the judges said what they did, honestly...I believe they have LARGE expectations for her, and they should!

Score: 3 stars

Lakisha Jones-Is she going hunting with her camo hat? If there's anyone who has a true personality, it's her. A very gutsy choice in Whitney Houston's "I Have Nothing", but if there is somebody that can pull it off--it's her. She does a great job, and I think America just absolutely adores her--I know I do. True talent and true class.

Score: 3.5 stars

Gina Glocksen-Their always after me lucky charms...She continues to show off her personality which is a huge plus. Totally rocking Evanescence's "You never call me when you're Sober", which, a lot like Chris Daughtry, is Gina's true calling. Although her last note was pretty awful, the song as a whole was a success.

Score: 2.5 stars

Melinda Doolittle-she shows her quirky side, maybe not a grrrrreat thing from the personality we know, but oh well, she's not perfect! "I'm a Woman" is another true calling type of song, she is simply one of the best out there--if you just listen to her voice without watching, she really reminds of Whitney Houston's strong vocals. If she's not in the top 4 when it ends, it will truly be a tragedy.

Score: 3.5 stars

A great night, they certainly REALLY showed up the men. This is actually kind of a hard thing to pick in terms of dropping two off, but I really think that it will be Antonella and Haley. Unfortunate for Haley, but she just is not good enough to keep up with the HUGE talent the ladies have. Men, be ready, because these girls could be picking you off 1 by 1 now that it's "on".

GOOSEY-OUT!!
